Competitons - Information and Guidelines

On the first Wednesday of each month (except January and July), Geelong Camera Club hold a Club competition that is judged by either a local, Melbourne or country judge.

Members can enter three sections -

  • Open (large prints)
  • Set subject (large Prints)
  • Altered Reality (large Prints)
  • Projected images

Set subject competitions are a mixed format.

Members should submit their digital projected images directly via the link below.

Sections vary month to month and include:

August, October, December, March & May competitions

  • Open Prints 2 entries
  • Creative Experimental Prints 2 entries

September, November, February, April & June competitions

  • Open Electronic Images 2 entries
  • Set subject Prints 2 entries

Throughout the year Geelong Camera Club also competes against other camera clubs in 3 Inter-Club Competitions, as well as the annual VAPS competition which involves all the camera clubs in Victoria.

The Geelong Camera Club is currently ranked very highly in State competitions.

To Assist the Competition Secretary, please use the correct file naming format, as described below and in full on the Competitions page.

Please follow this tutorial if you are unsure on how to resize your images for uploading. icon

Electronic images must be sRGB jpg images sized so that they will fit within a box 1920px wide by 1080px high.

Note: The heights of a portrait style image cannot be more than 1080px

Maximum file size is 1500kb or 1.5MB.

To assist the Competition Secretary, please use the correct file naming format, as described :

Image file title shall comply with the following

An example :   Mt-Buffalo-007.jpg

IMAGE TITLE, IMAGE FILE NAME ( name of your image may include lower case letters, capital letters, and/or numbers.

The following characters must  not appear in the file title [ ] ( ) { } : ; " ? ' > / \ < , ! @ # $ % ^ & * ~ =

Mt-Buffalo - Title with alphanumeric only - (a dash) is used to separate the image title from the member number.

007 - 3 digit membership number with leading zeros as necessary.

.jpg (don't type in ".jpg" – this extension will be added to the file name when you save your image in jpg format ready for uploading).

Maximum File Size is 1500kb or 1.5MB.

When the above steps have been met you can now fill out the entry form and upload your images.
