Competitions
On the first Wednesday of each month (except January and July), Geelong Camera Club hold a Club competition that is judged by either a local, Melbourne or country judge.
To contact the competition manager, simply send an email to competition@geelongcameraclub.org.au
Members can enter three sections -
- Open (large prints)
- Set Subject (large Prints)
- Creative / Experimental (large Prints)
- Projected images
Set subject competitions are a mixed format.
Members should submit their digital projected images directly via the link below.
Sections vary month to month and include:
August, October, December, March & May competitions
- Open Prints 2 entries Grades 1 & 2
- Open Electronic Images 2 entries Grades 1 & 2
- Creative Experimental Prints 3 entries Ungraded
September, November, February, April & June competitions
- Open Prints 2 entries Grades 1 & 2
- Set Subject Prints 2 entries Grades 1 & 2
- Open Slides 3 entries Ungraded.
Throughout the year Geelong Camera Club also competes against other camera clubs in 3 Inter-Club Competitions, as well as the annual VAPS competition which involves all the camera clubs in Victoria.
The Geelong Camera Club is currently ranked very highly in State competitions.
Uploading Digital Images
Electronic images must be sRGB jpg images sized so that they will fit within a box 1024 pixels wide by 768 pixels high.
To assist the Competition Secretary, please use the correct file naming format, as described :
Image file title shall comply with the following
An example - My Red Rose-007. jpg
IMAGE TITLE ( name of your image may include lower case letters, capital letters, spaces and/or numbers.
Other characters must not appear in the file title, such as [ ] ( ) { } : ; " ? ' > / \ < , ! @ # $ % ^ & * ~ = ).
Title with alphanumerics only - (space, dash, space) is used to separate the image title from the member number.
007 ( due to increased club members your original 2 digit membership number now becomes a 3 digit number by adding a zero at the start ).
jpg ( upload your file as a .jpg extension ).
Maximum File Size is 300kb.
Please follow this tutorial if you are unsure on how to resize your images for uploading.
When the above steps have been met you can now fill out the entry form and upload your images.
