MONTHLY APPRECIATION AWARD - DECEMBER 2023

 

On this occasion for December, we recognise Phillipa Alexander for:

​

• Establishment of Geelong Camera Club membership and participation in the PSA (Photographic Society of America) Inter-club Competition which is a world-wide event

• Selecting images by club members for participation in each individual inter-club competition

• Advising the club and individual members of results from each competition

• Advising, informing club individuals of available worldwide competitions into which members can enter and work towards gaining honours and recognition for their photographic work

• Advising entrants and club members of results achieved by individuals entering competitions around the world

MONTHLY APPRECIATION AWARD - JUNE 2023

 

On this occasion for May, we recognise Chris Reichl for:

​

• A quiet achiever always working in the background

• Regular and valuable contributor on the General Committee

• Organiser & selector of images for 2023 VAPS Colac Interclub Competition

• Arranging with Ballarat & Essendon for the Inter-Club Competitions

• Organiser and operative for tonight’s EOY awards:

  •  Setting up of the displays

  • Arranging the engraving of the trophies

  • Seeking out sponsors for awards

  • Preparation of the results check sheet

MONTHLY APPRECIATION AWARD - MAY 2023

 

On this occasion for May, we recognise Bob & Judy Medwell for:

​

• Organising the May Marysville Camp incl. reserving camp sites/cabins

• Logistical information provided to club members

• Arranging Friday BBQ evening

• Organising Saturday Night booking and meal orders at the Duck Inn

​

MONTHLY APPRECIATION AWARD - APRIL 2023

 

On this occasion for April, we recognise Meredith Bain for:

​

• Provided core support for the GCC Photographic Course

• Leading Lightseekers SIG whilst Allan Wilkins was overseas

• Issued excellent communication on upcoming Lightseekers events (Trentham & Portrait session) 

​

Thank you Meredith for willingly giving your time to the club temporarily during it's hour of need.

MONTHLY APPRECIATION AWARD - FEBRUARY 2023

 

On this occasion for February, we recognise 3 individuals who have made a difference to the seating in the clubroom. Congratulations to:

​

• Sheryle Griffiths

• Gloria Van Der Meer and

• Larry Devenish

​

These folk:

​

• Devised the idea to refurbish a sizable number of club chairs looking worse for wear

• Sheryle took home to test refurbishing a dismantled seat and backrest

• All 3 participated in the undertaking of the chair refurbishment in the clubroom

​

Congratulations Sheryle, Gloria and Larry for your improvement to the club furnishings and your devotion to the club.

MONTHLY APPRECIATION AWARD - DECEMBER 2022

 

On this occasion for December, we recognise Lyndall Abbott-Young for:

​

• Explorer/Adventurer for suggesting and arranging the Sunday Outings

• Providing articles on the locations and experiences on the day

• Ensuring our kitchen and supplies are in good order

• 1st on sight at club during flood peaks

​

Congratulations Lyndall for your efforts and your devotion to the club.

​

In addition, the club would also like to recognise Nick Abbott-Young for:

​

• Also for being 1st on sight at the club with Lyndall during flood peaks

• Not once but twice

• Arranged, with Lyndall, in ensuring that all vulnerable items were raised off the floor. Note that the home of Lyndall and Nick was itself under flood threat at the time.

​

Thank you Nick for looking after your club during this threatening period.

MONTHLY APPRECIATION AWARD - NOVEMBER 2022

 

On this occasion for November, we recognise Harry De Wit who is ever present around the club. Harry

​

• Usually always one of the first-arrivals on club night

• Always posting to Facebook his photo-journalistic images. His images of the recent Barwon River flood demonstrated the impacts locally

• Has been the Print delegate on competition nights for a considerable time

​

Congratulations Harry for demonstrating your level of club commitment.

​

​

CONGRATULATIONS to PETER ROUPAS

​

Peter has successfully achieved being awarded FAPS (Fellowship, Australian Photographic Society) Honour Level.

 

The Requirements for FAPS are 200+ Acceptances at approved International Salons/Exhibitions, with at least 10 different images achieving medals/awards from at least 5 different countries.

​

Peter has now been added to the clubs website Honorable Members Board. Congratulations Peter.

​

MONTHLY APPRECIATION AWARD - OCTOBER 2022

​

Commencing from September, the club Committee has re-introduced the Monthly Appreciation Award in recognition of individual(s) who provide support/assistance, guidance and leadership in the operation of the club.

 

On this occasion for October, we recognise Gerry Van Der Meer for his workmanship in the preparation of the TV relocation. This entailed:

​

• Inspection, structural analysis and draftsmanship of proposed wall prior to it’s dismantling

• Assisted in the dismantling of the trophy cabinet

• Available hands on to dismantle TV from original location

• Built a new timber holder for TV remote and TV connection box

• Built a frame on wheels to enable maneuverability of trophy cabinets

• Always made himself available but Covid played it’s part in limiting Gerry

 

Without Gerry's initial inspection and structural analysis of the proposed wall, the project would have gone in blind to undertake the re-build.  Well done and thank you Gerry.
